We took the nostalgic Enoden train from Kamakura station to Enoshima Island, and walked a short distance through town and across the causeway to Enoshima Island. The causeway was very breezy and there were lots of tourists. Saw plenty of eagles circling above too. On the island, we had to climb some steps to the temple and the view on top was Enoshima, a small island just slightly west of Kamakura, boasts some of the closest beaches to Tokyo (approx. 1 hr from Shinjuku Station). But that’s not the only enticing factor; Enoshima’s got a little bit of everything—parks, shrines, aquariums, local restaurants and even caves—making it the perfect all-in-one vacation spot. It is famous for their french toast and it has even appeared on TV! The atmosphere is like a Southern country and I recommend you to take a seat outside! You can choose a level of sweetness for the french toast. I ate Affogato-ish french toast (1380 yen) today and the match of ice cream and espresso was delicious!

But as you can see from the photos, the portion dont scream out lunch to most. Fortunately, there is a lot of street food on Enoshima island, from freshly cooked seafood to sweet snacks.
